Day 3 Christchurch (TranzAlphine Train-4Hrs 30Min) (Glacier Region)

The TranzAlpine scenic train journey travels between Christchurch
and Greymouth, from one
coast of New Zealand to the other. From your carriage you’ll see the
fields of the Canterbury
Plains and farmland, followed bythe spectacular gorges and river
valleys of the Waimakariri
River. Your train then climbs into the Southern Alps before
descending through lush beech rain
forest to the West Coast town of Greymouth – a great base for visits
to Punakaiki and the always
popular glaciers.
Travel south along the rugged West Coast to arrive at the glacier
region of Franz Josef and Fox
Glaciers.
Day 4 Greymouth (535km) (Glacier Region) ~ Queenstown (AB/WL/CD)
Travel down the West Coast past spectacular mountain ranges, native
forests and lakes to the
Haast Pass.
